The Responsibility of the “Experts”

As is his wont, it only takes Instapundit Glenn Reynolds one sentence and a link to make a key point:

WHEN THE PUBLIC HEALTH APPARAT HAS LOST THE TRUST OF HEALTH WORKERS: Majority of Southern California nurses refusing the COVID vaccine.

This is how badly the “experts” have screwed up.

The thing that progressives, technocrats, and rule-by-expert types miss is that — in any kind of government with a pretense to represent the public, rather than dictate to us — how the People will respond to a policy is a central question.  The “experts” can’t behave in a way that is sure to spark an unhelpful response from the public and then complain that the public is being unhelpful.  The governor can’t impose rules that are sure not to be followed, ladled out in a way designed to string us all along and flavored with a scolding tone of disappointment and blame, and then complain when (she says) the rules aren’t being followed well enough.

Of course, this tendency is why progressivism leads directly to tyranny. When it comes down to it, the self-authorized experts think their proclamations outweigh the public’s right to self government.  They know what is proper and good, and anybody who refuses to go along is obviously not worthy of freedom.

We see this attitude starkly with the coronavirus, but it permeates everything.  From free speech to business regulation to zoning to taxation, if you won’t do what you’re told of your own free will (with their helpful psychological tricks and manipulation) they’ll have to force you to do it.

Here’s some “research” for ya, Loo… to ‘gin up’ support for getting da jab, they’re faking giving it to health care workers:

They didn’t do a very good job of it, either

What is the meaning behind this ?? Are so few actual HCWs willing to get jabbed that they’re having to fake it ??

In Alaska, two of the first 114 vaccinated had serious, potentially life-threatening reactions to it. That’s an adverse reaction rate of 1.75%, or about 1 in 57. Would YOU get on a plane that had a 1 in 57 chance of crashing ??

Well, YOU would, if your leftists overlords ordered you to. The rest of wouldn’t be nearly so sanguine

The reason those nurses — and lots of docs too — don’t want the vaccine is cuz the medical literature on it is pretty terrifying

Its mechanism of action (mRNA) is entirely new: a vaccine of this type has never been approved for use in humans before. Its “rapid development” is only cuz research on this new mechanism has been ongoing for years now; it was then rushed into clinical use by political pressure

It has the potential — repeat, the *potential* — to be perhaps the greatest medical catastrophe to ever befall the human race, natural or man-made

(( topping the first Salk polio vaccine catastrophe would be quite a feat, but easily within the realm of possibility ))

The scariest possibility is infertility in young women. And if that happens, it may be temporary or permanent. Even temporary is horrible: if you knock a decade off a woman’s reproductive years and she’s mid-20s or older now, she is basically functionally sterile. Knock 20 yrs off, and you’ve destroyed an entire generation

Now the sudden reluctance of nurses — still predominantly female — to be the first guinea pigs makes a lot more sense

There are other horrible possibilities for us guys too, so much so that yours truly won’t be getting jabbed any time soon; besides the fact I already had it back in October and don’t need it

If YOU haven’t had the commie cold yet — male or female — I would think long and hard before getting in line for a shot. That’s just science

I am shocked…SHOCKED to find that just because the Orange Fuhrer is incompetent and a serial liar that you don’t believe what his FDA is telling you.

Are you sure that you just don’t want to be microchipped by Bill Gates?

You go right ahead and get Da Jab, Loo

But in the unlikely event I’m right, you can’t say you weren’t warned

There’s just one pra-blem with some of the more seemingly “far-out-there” conspiracy theorists: virtually all of their predictions have come trve so far

One guy in particular, who’s been banned from every major internet web source, stated months ago that as soon as a vaccine came out, a “new strand” — as he put it — would be discovered. The purpose of course: to keep us all locked up forever; our civil rights becoming a distant memory

And Lo! and Behold!… the very week a vaccine is released, why, there’s a New Strain of the virus to deal with. The very same week !! What a freakin’ coincidence !!

Scientists tend to prove their theories by making predictions with them. These guys haven’t made an inaccurate prediction or observation yet, right down to the impossibility that Joe Biden is the most popular person who ever lived

    • Lou

Fascinating prediction…until someone with common sense reminds us that new viruses are discovered each and every year.

You would think with 81,283,485 votes cast for Biden that some of you conspiracy theorists would come up with ONE fraudulent vote to document your claims. Is that asking to much?

The danger to America is not Joseph Biden, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of a Biden presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Biden, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Biden, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president,

        • Lou

The irony of course, is that if you replace “Biden” with “Trump” in your post, it makes much more sense to millions of Americans.
