For my weekly call-in on John DePetro’s WNRI 1380 AM/95.1 FM show, this week, the topics were Senator Kettle’s travails, Raimondo’s special fund raising deal, defining the Moderate Party, and progressive dog whistles.

The conspiracy theories about Kettle’s situation kind of fall apart when he resigns, no? Why would an innocent man resign?

Sorry, but your “rub and tug” banter with the “Independent Man” hasn’t convinced me that Kettle is a victim.

First, I don’t think his resignation changes the circumstances. The Senate was promising to eject him with a deliberately unpleasant show trial that would also complicate his actual trial. It’s clearly not an admission of guilt to choose to avoid that.

Second, I’ve never suggested that Kettle didn’t do anything. I’ve only pointed out that we just don’t know the details at this point.
