A bill that would require Rhode Island grocery stores to limit self-checkout lanes has been signed into law. Senate Bill 2342 will restrict grocers to operating three self-checkout lanes for every staffed checkout. It originally passed the state Senate last month. On June 10, a revised version passed the House of Representatives and was send back to the Senate, which passed it June 11. Gov. Dan McKee signed the bill June 18.
