Campaign Finance Problems Continue for Aponte

Update: Councilman Aponte did submit some of his campaign finance reports on Friday and it took until after this post was first up for the Board of Elections to get their site updated with that information. I’m not certain how one can recreate so much information, but he did submit the forms. Some are still missing and this screenshot was taken at 6:05 pm on 11/17 to reflect the current status:

He didn’t file campaign finance reports for more than four years. This is illegal. Last week, he told Dan McGowan:

“I own the fact that I should have filed [the reports,] even if they said zero,” Aponte told WPRI.com Monday. Aponte said he planned to submit all of his delinquent reports this week.

According to the RI Board of Elections campaign finance reporting site, those still have not been filed as of today.

This Providence City Council member is seeking the vacant Council Presidency. He didn’t file the reports, he claimed that he didn’t know he had to and now he pledged to file them within the week and has not. Mr. Aponte seems to have issues with doing what he is supposed to do and doing what he says he will. I feel this man doesn’t deserve to be a representative of the people and certainly should not be the Council president.
