The Unemployment of 1

Of course it’s not the same thing but more indicative of the attitude of our House of Representatives. Rhode Island has been at the bottom or teetering near the bottom of the unemployment numbers for a long time now. However now, the job of the Speaker of the House opens up and look how much effort the state representatives are putting into this to fill the job quickly. They’re working endlessly on Saturday and Sunday. But what of the nearly 50,000 Rhode Islanders who are out of work and looking to find a job? Where’s the urgency there? Where’s the priority? Sure, the House needs a Speaker, but they have one on the Speaker Pro Tempore, Elaine Coderre. Why the rush? Why working all weekend on this?

It’s just a shame to see all this effort when it’s for them and so much less effort when it’s for the people of their state. What if we could have this same urgency from our legislature in getting all Rhode Islanders back to work? When you look at it that way, it’s really a shame and pretty embarrassing for all them.
