When Even NBC Calls Him A Liar…

For all the media biases that people talk about, I think it’s safe to say that Fox News is squarely in the corner of the right and NBC is well, a bit more left-leaning, to say the least. So for NBC to come right out and say that President Obama has been lying to the American people is pretty amazing.

Today, nbcnews.com has an article talking about this very thing. Of course, writing about it here is simply preaching to the choir. I’m not telling you anything you didn’t already know. The news here is that even the network that employs Chris Matthews, yeah the guy who admitted he was in the tank for Obama, is now telling people that the president has not been telling you the truth about the Unaffordable Care Act. Some of the lines from the article.

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter

and

the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

Yet President Obama, who had promised in 2009, “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan,” was still saying in 2012, “If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”

“This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either,”

How about this line, which pretty much sums up “I was lying to you”:

The White House does not dispute that many in the individual market will lose their current coverage, but argues they will be offered better coverage in its place, and that many will get tax subsidies that would offset any increased costs.

But wait. How does that jibe with “you will be able to keep your health plan?” Oh that’s right, tax subsidies will offset it. Really? How about George?

George Schwab, 62, of North Carolina, said he was “perfectly happy” with his plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield, which also insured his wife for a $228 monthly premium. But this past September, he was surprised to receive a letter saying his policy was no longer available. The “comparable” plan the insurance company offered him carried a $1,208 monthly premium and a $5,500 deductible.

That’s one heckuva tax subsidy.
