In East Providence, more than 60% fail to fully meet expectations in ELA and math. Cranston is the same. The vast majority of kids are not meeting expectations in either ELA or math. Not just in Providence and Central Falls, but in cities and towns across the state, the children are not meeting expectations. The fact is that so many of our schools are not performing. Our students are missing out on a quality education. Infante-Green, in her Commissioner’s Memo to Friends of Education, wrote: “Significant growth in math proficiency with an increase of 2.7 percentage points and 2 percentage points in ELA.” If significant growth is 2% and we have not even rebounded to the 2019 levels, god help us. Infante-Green has perfected a pathway to mediocracy. At this rate it will take a few more years to get back to 2019 levels — results that drew criticism from most every constituency. There is a real harm in this false narrative. If the standard is a 2% improvement annually, those in first grade in all urban schools and many suburban schools will still be labeled as “failed to meet expectations” as seniors, too.” |

The taxpayers’ money is not put to good use. Accordingly, for the sake of the children and for the entire state, Ms. Infante-Green needs to step down as Education Commissioner as the first step of RIDE returning to its core, critical mission of education. |

I was trying to help my granddaughter last week with her math assignment, while she is drawing circles and lines to come to the answer, this college grad was unable to help her. OH yes, and put God back into the limelight. He belongs there, in the schools. I am tired of hearing the crap that is going on in the schools and it is time to clean house. |

| The commissioner has been been in her position since 2019 and we are embarking on 2024. Nothing has improved or changed in the state of education in Rhode Island whatsoever.
Of utmost concernto me, is that the most disadvantaged students in our state in Providence Public schools are not receiving the education that they need or deserve in order to have a chance to succeed are being failed under her leadership,despite all the efforts to do the opposite. It is a travesty that we continue to allow the failed leadership to continue in this state at the expense of our children and our future. |
